Lisbon | Évora

In the spring of 2024, I flew into Lisbon, arriving before ANYTHING was open. But it was gloriously peaceful and quiet… until the peacocks at Castelo de São Jorge screamed at us. My group was amused, and the views were well worth it. We loved the sunny vistas of Lisbon and the quaint charm of Évora.

Lisbon, capital of Portugal

Over the course of three days, we saw all of Lisbon in its sunshine-colored splendor. We especially enjoyed the Tower of Belém, Monument to the Discoveries, and the Jerónimos monastery. Before moving on, we absolutely loved the Pastéis de Nata, heavenly custard pastries.

Évora, the cork capital

This charming town is the cork capital, so I purchased sneakers and a crossbody bag made from cork trees. We learned all about harvesting cork, and we visited the Chapel of Bones, which is made from real human skeletons and is meant to make visitors contemplate death.
