Punta Cana | Salvaleon de Higuey | Monkey Land

In June of 2024, after trekking the Amazon the previous year, my family decided it was finally time to relax. “Can’t you find us a resort somewhere?” they asked. I relented, booking a resort in Punta Cana, which used to be called “Drunkard’s Point” until an American entrepreneur revitalized it and it became a paradise. I was still determined to sneak in some adventure, which is how we ended up riding jungle buggies in Higuey and feeding monkeys at Monkeyland. We even managed to get some agricultural content for PW’s FFA channel on YouTube, so the trip was a success.

I would definitely recommend the Dominican Republic if you’re looking to relax or have a small adventure. Our resort featured a water park, and the kids loved staying in the pools all day. I loved exclusively speaking Spanish, which makes my bilingual brain happy, and the locals were so welcoming. Great destination!
